Nymox Pharmaceutical Corporation, headquartered in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey and in Montreal, Canada, is a diversified biopharmaceutical research and development company with patented technologies for therapeutic and diagnostic products aimed mainly at the unmet medical needs of the aging population. It had completed multi-center Phase II clinical studies of its NX-1207 drug candidate for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an enlarged prostate condition common among older men, and was seeking partnerships with major pharmaceutical firms.

Nymox markets AlzheimAlert, described in the report as the only commercially available non-invasive urine test for Alzheimer’s disease, through its clinical reference laboratory in New Jersey, a partner lab in the U.K. and a kit version in Europe. It also has patented programs to develop Alzheimer’s treatments, including technology targeting spherons and the use of statins. Its NicAlert and TobacAlert test strips detect tobacco use or exposure, and its portfolio of several hundred patents and applications includes antibacterials, among them a disinfectant against E. coli food contamination.
