NeoStem, Inc., founded in 1980 and headquartered in New York City, is an international biopharmaceutical company with operations in the U.S. and China, focused on developing proprietary cellular therapies in oncology, immunology and regenerative medicine. It provides adult stem cell and newborn cord blood collection, processing and storage services through a network of collection centers, mainly in Southern California and the Northeast.

Through Progenitor Cell Therapy, LLC, acquired in January 2011, NeoStem offers a wide range of services in the cell therapy market, and it holds an effective 80% interest in Athelos, Inc., which acquired rights to a T-cell based therapy for autoimmune disorders. In October 2011 it acquired Amorcyte, Inc., a cell therapy company whose lead candidate for acute myocardial infarction was entering a Phase 2 study. NeoStem also set up a research laboratory and processing facility in Beijing, and held a 51% interest in Suzhou Erye Pharmaceuticals, a generic antibiotics maker it planned to divest. It won The New Economy’s 2010 Biotech Award for "Best Stem Cell Company."
