Zipinmail.com, founded in 2021 and based in Santa Monica, California, has created a mailbox in the cloud for every U.S. residential, commercial and PO Box address. Its parent company is Digital Mailbox, Inc. Zipinmail works like email but uses a physical mailing address instead of an email address: users can claim their mailboxes on a cell phone, compose a Zipinmail to a full physical address and attach any file format. Businesses can send mass Zipinmail to thousands of homes, upload coupons by zip code and offer cash rewards. The service is free for recipients, as the report puts it, "just like the US Post Office."
Founder and CEO Vijay Chetty had the idea in February 2021, filed a patent, invested $520,000 in cash, built the team and the product, and soft-launched it on March 1, 2022 on Windows, iOS, Android and the web. At the time of the report, about 140 consumers and a dozen businesses had signed up, and the Company was part of the Cleantech Open Accelerator program in Los Angeles. A PCT patent application for its Virtual Mailbox Platform was filed on December 10, 2021.
